Jeri Ain’t No Arianna
Real Woman v. Reel Woman

Before it happens, let the retort and rebuttal be put forth: Ed Rollins’ tale of his campaign-manager’s hassles with the Candidate’s Wife in 1994 do not apply to this republican story surrounding Jeri Thompson.  One is a professional operative, the other a ‘buccaneer’ in the late nineteenth century meaning of that word, in England.
 
PBS’ series “The Buccaneers” introduced the nation to Mira Sorvino, Carla Gugino and the concept of the buccaneering American rich gal seeking a titled husband in Edwardian England.  As surely as the pirates of the past were seeking riches created by others, these buccaneering babes were seeking titles of nobility, in exchange for their fathers’ dowries from American largesse arising from the Industrial Revolution.  

A hundred or so years later came the Greek Buccaneeress, Arianna Huffington, climbing her husband’s political body like a career ladder, as he was badgered by her into running for the Senate – and some opine also badgering him into homosexuality.  He lost the Senate seat, and the Gulfstream jet he’d hoped to buy with the cash he invested in the hoped-for ‘upgrade’ from the House to the Senate.  Arianna revealed her true leftwing stripes once she divorced him for failure to upgrade her spousely status.
 
Now comes Jeri Thompson, the ‘trophy’ who has a trophy for a husband, with prior experience at actual political operations responsibility.  Long before Rollins’ rousing recall of the Arianna angst, Jeri was a political worker with responsibility and education and experience.  Her ‘entry’ to a presidential campaign, or earlier senatorial work, was not thru marriage.  Ditto in comparison with Hillary, by the by.
 
Jeri is no buccaneer – she’s a hot piece of delectable desirability, to be sure, but then there’s a potful of babes-with-brains-and-balls in the capitol of the nation, and of the fifty states.  Jeri’s earned her stripes as commandante-in-chief for Fred’s team – albeit she may be overbearing and overstepping a bit.  But her involvement is ten thousand light years past the buccaneering bitchiness of Arianna – whose blog doubtless will soon try to compare her ‘insight’ with this new wife-as-participant in a serious campaign.
 
A point to keep in mind as the slings and arrows of petty and pitiful pontificating begins, starting with Juan Williams’ snide comment a week ago – for which he merely blushed, didn’t apologize, when pointed out by letters to Fox News Sunday the following week.  Arianna in California, and Mira Sorvino plus Carla Gugino in PBS’ fictional series, are miles from who and what Jeri Thompson represents.
 
But keep your Kevlar vests buttoned – the left will not relent, for their hypocrisy is beyond measure.  The true ‘trophy’ wife is on the dems’ side – Dennis Kucinich has had a few slings at his comely contessa, but only along the line of, Why did she marry him?  No concern for her trophy status – for Dennis is not challenge, not likely to win.  Attacking Jeri as a trophy is A-OK for liberals.  Who will soon make the comparison to Arianna – plan on it, make book, await it with complete certainty that it will happen.
 
For, to be direct: THOMPSON CAN WIN and of course also, HE’S A CONSERVATIVE.  Thus the trophy scheme, undaunted by any feministas rants, for it serves the leftwing agenda.
