Order for Omaha Stakes
Nine Dead, Nine Soon To Judge
by Steve
Finefrock - Hollywood Forum [scriptwriter]
12/11/07
Did you place your bet? Not many chances there was more then ten or twenty milliseconds after the first news reports of the Omaha mall murders, before the left began to preen for more gun control. First-reports included citizens of the ‘West’ telling how they cowered like easterners in Laxachusettes, hiding behind racks of clothes! Imagine the bullet-stopping ability of cotton, rayon and pleather!
Unseen is apparently considered to be equivalent to invulnerable, in the minds of the timid penguins who filled that mall by the thousands. Yet to be seen in the yaparama chatter is the thought that perhaps if a half-dozen of Omaha’s finest citizens had themselves been packing heat, they might have returned some lead-poisoning by their own initiative – a little lead offered the marketplace instead of that coming in cargo containers from China.

Chinese Lead v. American Lead? Nine are dead to be draped in black, and soon nine robed in black may make dead the Second Amendment – but not likely. Most assuredly thankfully. The coming SCOTUS case might take ‘judicial notice’ of this circumstance. With a little help from the right kind of ‘friends’ of the court – that is, the Right kind of friends filing amicus curiae briefs. The stakes are high as this Omaha mall gains notoriety.
If a few self-regulated militia types had been carrying their weapons in that mall, the position taken by those Good Citizens behind walls or clothes racks or checkout counters would have been to ambush the pickle-brained nerd in cammy. Instead of waiting for him to eat his gun, or ‘die by cop’ by law enforcement’s late arrival, an earlier demise could have been arranged in time to keep the mall from breaking Nebraska’s long-running mass-killing record. Instead of nine dead, maybe only two or three or four. Or even if eight died, plus the satisfaction that a citizen [or two, or three…] showed cojones instead of cowering, it would have restored a lot of America’s self-respect. At least in Nebraska, if not in Laxachussetes.
Ironically, an elderly man awaits grand jury decision on his shotgun killing of two illegal alien thugs who crossed his lawn to challenge his brandishing a loaded shotgun – while he held his cellphone in earshot of the event. All as a 911 operator was advising him to cower in his home and let-the-police-handle-it – and fortuitously, they arrived only seconds after the two thugs were shot, ultimately fatally.
Liberals’ idea on this? Oh, if he’d only waited, since the police arrived only seconds later – but of course, the ole guy didn’t have x-ray vision, or aerial video surveillance craft with digital link to his cell phone. He had no capacity to know if the cops would arrive only a few seconds hence, or minutes later, or even get called to a “more serious” altercation in another neighborhood. Unlike the Omaha citizens hiding behind lace and cotton and pleather, he took a leather-tough stride to protect his home, his neighbors’ homes, and the general neighborhood’s sense of self.
Yet, with the 911 ‘authority’ demanding he stay inside, his gun unloaded, cowering while waiting for the Authorized Force [Farce?] to relieve him of the duty to shoot the thugs as they advanced across his lawn – doubtlessly certain he’d dare not challenge them, in the end, since they well knew from long experience that the weenies in the law enforcement system [courts, cops, lawyers, et al] would never allow a citizen to actually utilize the Second Amendment!
Two contrasting cases – pleather versus leather. An armed elderly man advancing on those who terrorize and demand citizens cower, versus hundreds of cowering citizens of younger age and ability, unarmed and unable to do any more than cross their arms, in desperate hope the cops would get there sometime, any time, in time to save them. Save them not only from death, but from Citizenly Obligation to PROTECT THEMSELVES.
It made me think of that saddening scene in the final minutes of “March of the Penguins” as the predator birds take a dining aggression on the new young chicks, the waddling parents helpless to stop the devouring of the squealing newborns which represent so much arduous effort and energy and other organic resources. That Omaha mall was filled with penguins, facing a predator-nerd with no hope of stopping, or even slowing his mowing thru the calm stalks of their tender shoots of passive blades of helpless grass. And hapless as well, and maybe hopeless on a larger cultural scale, if this Omaha crowd is the best the Old West offers. Imagine the penguin-flesh feast to be had in a Boston Mall, or in Burlington, or in Berkeley.
The old man was made of hardened steel, wielding steel and nitrocellulose, instead of hiding behind nylons and chiffon. He gave a taste of lead poisoning via American Lead, even as the journalistic penguins complain of Chinese Lead, with frequent blaring headlines.
That Omaha mall was attacked at the edge of winter, as those penguins’ young were attacked on the edge of summer and near the edge of the Antarctic ice sheet – and Omaha’s penguins were as useless as racks of multi-colored nylon stockings. Issues and dramas worthy of TV and movies conveying our viewpoint – if, and only if, conservatives get in the film biz and start dramatizing these stories, giving them the kind of satisfying close which John Ford or William Wellman and other old-time directors gave to our sense of who we are and what we represent, and what we can and will and must do on our own behalf.
Watch how “Law and Order” and “Boston Legal” handle this – once the writers go back to their keyboards. And wistfully wish the dramatization had been done by us – our kind of producers, our kind of writers, our kind of directors, our kind of executives. Are we Penguins, or are we Conservatives?
