But Pro-Lifers Kill People!
by Julia
Gorin [pundit/comedian] 6/5/07
But pro-lifers kill people! - That is a cliche one often gets from pro-choicers, as I did from one of my editors, to explain their distaste for the pro-life movement and justify baby-killing. When they say this, they’re of course referring to the rare incident in which a deranged individual shoots up or bombs an abortion clinic.

There is a quick and easy retort that should slide off one’s tongue the next time he or she is confronted with this brainless aspersion. But first, the foundation for the retort. Part I: The week that the Virginia Tech murders happened, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) said, “I know this is a very hard and emotional week given everything that’s happened…the Virginia Tech tragedy…and today a Supreme Court decision [upholding a nationwide ban on partial birth abortion] that I believe endangers women’s health.” Part II: a recent article titled “Connecticut Becomes Latest State with Abortion-Statutory Rape Coverup“:
Kevon Walker, who was 21 at the time, got the unnamed girl pregnant three times in six months and the girl wound up having three abortions as a result.
However, abortion businesses failed to report the statutory rape to authorities and officials only began investigating Walker’s actions when the victim’s mother contacted them.
…
Last week, a suburban Cincinnati Planned Parenthood was sued by a teenage girl who accuses it of covering up her sexual victimization by her father.
Under Ohio law, doctors, nurses, teachers and other professionals are required to report alleged sexual abuse to authorities and the teen says that didn’t happen in her abortion case.
…
In February, a Kansas pro-life group filed a complaint with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts alleging that Kansas City abortion practitioner Sherman Zaremski failed to report the rape of an 11-year old girl that resulted in a pregnancy.
…
After the abortion, Zaremski allegedly allowed the girl to return to her stepfather, Robert Estrada, who sexually abused the young girl and her sister over several years. The abuse resulted in four pregnancies, according to the group and the young girl in question later gave birth to twins on her 12th birthday.
Herewith, a demonstration of how future conversations on the subject should go:
“But pro-lifers bomb aborton clinics and shoot doctors!”
“But pro-choicers support rape, incest, and baby skull-crushing up to a day before delivery.”
Possible afterthought: “…and whereas there’s only a handful of clinic bombers, the latter represents the mainstream of the pro-choice movement.”
Just an aside on the partial birth procedure: Rather than being about women’s health, partial-birth abortion is about not making the woman live with even three minutes of seeing her baby before giving it up. Somehow, the guilt of putting the baby up for adoption is supposed to be reduced by killing it instead. Because at least that way, no one will ask the woman if she wants to see it. ExileStreet
